John David lived down the street from me when in grade school. He had the coolest bike. Bright green with streamers coming from the handle grips. A mud flap on the rear wheel and he was "tough". I remember calling his house one day and his dad answering the phone; "CARR'S MULE BARN, HEAD JACKASS SPEAKING". For a young kid that went to Catholic school thru the 3rd grade and this call being made when I was in 4th or 5th grade, I thought this was VERY CRUDE.
John lived hard and I remember thinking how tragic it was that he died so young.
John was my back door neighbor. He was always keeping his duck tail hair in place. My mother said he was a ladies man, a handsome person. His death was very hard on John's mother. He was an only child.
