Our sincere condolences go out to the family of our classmate, Richard Bullard.  Following is his obituary.

Funeral services for Richard Lee Bullard, 68, of Dekalb will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Troit Stow officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Bullard passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 in Texarkana, Texas. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 26, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Richard was born on November 20, 1945, to Willie Lee and Erma Louise Bullard. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1965 and served on the USS Enterprise until 1969. He studied at both Kilgore College and Letourneau University and held a masters certificate in Law enforcement from the East Texas Police Academy. Mr. Bullard retired after 35 years of service in law enforcement.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of DeKalb; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lela Bullard of Gilmer, Beau and Angie Bullard of Clute, and Tim and Caren Bullard of Little Mound. He is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Frank Brown of Richwood.

Mr. Bullard loved the outdoors and spending time with his 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother, Larry Bullard.

Pallbearers are Chris Pritchett, Don Pritchett, Clifton Walker, Josh Stewart, Dave McClintock and Danny Miller.
