Katherine Ann Pickens, 72, of Freeport, TX, was called home to be with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday December 4, 2017, peacefully at home.

Katherine lived most of her life in Freeport. She was a hairdresser and a security officer at Shintech. During her retirement she enjoyed being around her family and friends. Kathy never met a stranger. She had a very big and giving heart, always helping others. She took care of her mother for over 20 years.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lowney Savoy; Betty Jane Savoy (sister); George Savoy Jr. (brother); Lynel Savoy (brother); and Mark Pugh (nephew).

She is survived by her only child, Kimberly Pickens Thomas, and husband Kenny Thomas of Harwood, TX; three grandchildren, Kerstin, Cody, and wife Ana, and Kendra; one great-grandchild, William Ray. Katherine was overjoyed to know two more great grandchildren were on the way. She is also survived by four nieces, Shannon Whitton, and husband (Darron) of Lake Jackson, Terri Lorenz of Hobart, Washington, Lea Savoy of Rochester, Washington, and Ana Savoy of New York, New York. She had numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

A memorial will follow in January. A big thank you to Kindred Hospice. Katherine did not lose her battle with ALS, Jesus won her!!
