Margaret Alice Bond died on Sunday, January 9, 2011. Margaret was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on October 9, 1920. She moved with her family to Bonham, Texas for a brief time and then moved to Austin in 1926. Margaret was the daughter of Florence and Leonard Hamilton.

She had one sister, Sarah Braswell, who currently lives in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Margaret graduated from Austin High School in 1938 and enrolled at the University of Texas where she met her husband-to-be, George Claude Bond. Margaret and Claude were married on June 2, 1939, after Claude’s graduation. The couple moved to Freeport, Texas, where Claude was employed by the Dow Chemical Co., as a chemical engineer. They had two children; a son Terry, born in 1943 and daughter Barbara, born in 1947.

Margaret’s life as a wife and mother was her joy. She was a lovely homemaker, an accomplished cook and seamstress. She and Claude were married for 36 years until his death in 1971. In 1975 Margaret moved to Austin to stay close to her daughter and grandchildren. Margaret was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin.

Margaret is survived by her sister, Sarah Braswell; her son, Terry Bond and wife, Deena, of Round Rock, Texas; and her daughter, Barbara May and husband, Eddie, of Austin. Margaret is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Westmoreland and wife Lisa, and children Kelsie and Alex, of San Antonio and and Wendy Konradi and husband, Michael, and children Camden and Carrigan, of Dallas. Margaret had three nieces, four great nieces and three great nephews.

The funeral service will be held   at 10:00 a.m. in Lake Jackson, Texas. on Thursday, January 13, at Restwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Services are under the direction of Restwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Clute, Texas.
