Georgie Hundl, 83, of Clute, Texas, passed from this earth to her heavenly home with God on Thursday, May 20, 2011, and she is now dancing a polka.

Georgie was born to Charles and Mary Matej on March 17, 1928 in Wallis, Texas. She married Charlie Hundl in Wallis, Texas on July 17, 1946. Together they raised four daughters.

Georgie was a devout Catholic, wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She had tremendous faith in God and lived her life with Jesus and Mary as her constant companions. She prayed without ceasing, loved her family and went to Mass often.

Her favorite moments were when her family was together for a special occasion or for no reason at all. She loved holidays, birthdays or just spontaneous visits from friends and family.

She also enjoyed cooking, especially her infamous fruit, poppy seed and cream cheese kolaches. Georgie was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Clute, The Catholic Daughters and KJZT.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary. Georgie is survived by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Hundl, her daughters, Charlene Jones, Theresa Wysocki, Mary Ann Reed and Carol Guffey; her sister Sophie Korenek and brother Charles “Sonny” Matej; fourteen grandchildren, Sherry Terry, Charles Pyle, Judy Strouhal, Jennifer Jones, David Wysocki, Mark Wysocki, Nicholas Wysocki, Timothy Wysocki, Terra Todd, Jimmy Strate, Carol Barton, Robbie Reed, Nikki Jones and Jake Guffey, many great and great-great grandchildren and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 22, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stroud Funeral Home with a rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2011, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Clute.

The funeral will be officiated by the Rev. Jim Lyons.

The burial will be held at Guardian Angels Cemetary in Wallis, Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Charles Pyle, David Wysocki, Mark Wysocki, Nicholas Wysocki, Jake Guffey and Trent Jones.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church in Clute, St. Michael Catholic Church in Lake Jackson or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Granny, we will miss your loving hugs, your sweet, kind heart, your special “hellos” and your faith in your family. You are finally able to see the glorious, Beatific Vision, dance waltzes and polkas to Czech music again and sing with the angels in complete joy. We love you and will miss you!
