Stuart Lee

Stuart Lee

Stuart Ray Lee, 75, of La Grange, Texas entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, March 21, 2021.

He was born on December 30, 1945, the son of the late Thurman Rainey Lee and Ellirene (Knight) Lee.

Stuart graduated in 1965 from Brazosport High School in Freeport, Texas. While in high school, Stuart was a member of the Brazosport Exporters Football and Basketball teams. In addition, Stuart was active in the FFA along with his involvement in the local rodeo circuit.

He served honorably in the United States Army, stationed in Korea.

Stuart met the love of his life, Gloria M. Lee and they married on November 29, 1969 in her hometown of Ridgewood, New Jersey. Gloria and Stuart were later blessed with their son, Steven.

He worked as a Welder for many years, traveling all over the country with his work. He was an active member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union for a number of years.

Stuart and Gloria settled into country life for a period of time when they lived in Muldoon. Being out in the country was Stuart’s “happy place.” He loved being outdoors and truly enjoyed working on the farm, that was his idea of relaxation. In 1996, they moved to the La Grange community.

Stuart was a member of the First Baptist Church of La Grange. He loved his church family dearly. Often times when Stuart was not at home, he could be found at church volunteering his time and handyman skills with various types of repair work. The church staff welcomed seeing Stuart’s warm smile, and enjoyed his sense of humor whenever he would stop by. On Sunday mornings, you could count on Stuart greeting new members and visitors by the front door of the church.  He was a true servant to his community.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Gloria; son, Steven Lee and his wife, Carolyn of Kyle, TX.; and his beloved grandsons: Brycen, Cullen, and Madden.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Thurman and Ellirene Lee; and one brother, Bruce Lee.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of La Grange Building Fund, P.O. Box 97, La Grange, TX 78945 or Hospice Brazos Valley, 1048 N. Jefferson St., La Grange, TX 78945.
