Michael Shayne (Quis) Quisenberry, 66,a lifetime resident of Lake Jackson, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 16, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born September 20, 1946 to Floyd Willis and Olga Miller Quisenberry.

He went to work for Dow Chemical in 1973 and in 1974 he joined the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department. Quis was one of a few certified master fire fighters of Lake Jackson. He served as a second assistant fire chief and training officer in Lake Jackson, president of the Brazoria County Fire Fighters Association in 1997, a volunteer fire instructor at the Texas A&M Fire School, and the HAZMAT Coordinator at Dow Chemical for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers James Gordon and William Patrick Quisenberry.

Quis is survived by his wife of 42 1/2 years, Patti of Lake Jackson; two children, Michael Shayne Quisenberry Jr. and wife Teia of Lake Jackson, Heather Quisenberry, of Houston; close family friend (other daughter) Nicole Esquivel, and her son Colby; four grandchildren, Morgan, Trayce, Gavyn, Hadyn; one brother, Thomas Quisenberry, of New Mexico; mother and father-in-law, Billie and Zeke Webb, of Lake Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family will receive friends 7pm until 9pm Friday at the First Baptist Church, of Richwood‚ (2400 North Brazosport Blvd in Richwood, Texas 77531).

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Richwood with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating.

Pall bearers will be Shayne, Billy, Jimmy, and Jeff Quisenberry, Randy Ryle, Benny Lowery, Zelvin and Cecil Webb.

Honorary Pall bears will be the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Dept. and Lake Jackson E.M.S. He will be given full Fire Fighter Honors and interment will be at Restwood Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department Education Fund. Quis loved his family and his grandchildren were the light of his life.

The first time that I remember meeting Quis was in Junior High School.  Mike was in the Safety Patrol in Jr. High.  He was always interested in serving his community even at a young age.  RIP Mike.   Later Gater
