I have often thought about David and the tragic way he died.  I've even thought about writing a song about him, "Ode to David Callihan" or something like that.  He was a nice, quiet, unassuming, brilliant person who deserved better.  His name may not be on the Viet Nam Memorial wall in D. C. but it sure should be because he died due to wounds suffered in Viet Nam.

He was the best of us.

Linda, you said it best, David was the best of us.  He had such a bright promising future that ended in a cruel senseless way.  David was probably the smartest guy in our school, but he still had a personality that we all enjoyed and respected. God bless and keep you David!

How did David die?  Wasn't he "most likely to succeed?"
