Funeral services for Richard Lee Hancock, age 71, of Richwood , TX will be held at 10:00 on Friday, August 4 , 2017 at Willow Drive Baptist Church with Scott McKay officiating.

The family will receive friends at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017.

Richard was born and raised in Freeport, TX by Charles and Eleanor Hancock and was a lifelong resident of Brazoria County. He was a loving and supportive father of four, who as a young man, came to know Christ and dedicated his life to sharing the love of God with everyone he met. It seems he had a way of bringing joy to all, especially those who were in need of encouragement. Always quick to share a joke to make you smile, yet never hesitant to boldly pray for anyone at anytime.

He lived his life as a professional welder for over 20 years and an operator at SPR Freeport for 22 years. He was a girl’s softball coach, a relief house parent at the Brazoria County Youth Home, a Volunteer Fire Fighter with Freeport FD, and a full time Jesus-sharer!

Richard is survived by his beautiful bride, Dinah Jane; three children, Melanie (Saleim) Kahleh, Scott (Heather) Hancock, and Elaina (David) White; and thirteen grandchildren, Karah Grace, Aliya, Saleim II, Dasia, Simeon, Mackenzie, Hannah, Emily and Christian, Elianah, Laila, Samuel, Demia “MiMi”.

He wa s preceded in death by his infant son, Charles Theodore; his sister, Delores Hicks; and his parents, Charles “Dutch” and Eleanor “Tweedles” Hancock.
