OraLee Frieda Viola Gerick, formerly of Groesbeck, passed away at Golden Creek Nursing Home in Navasota, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at age 77.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, in the Chapel, with Pastor Jon Honea officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Parker Memorial Park.

OraLee was the only child born to James Wesley Brown and OraLee Frieda (Schmidt) Brown on November 17, 1946, in LaGrange, TX.  She graduated from Brazosport High School in 1965.

OraLee was united in marriage with Paul Franklin Gerick on June 5, 1965, and they began their life together and their family in Brazoria County.   OraLee worked many years for TDCJ in the prison system both there and later after the family moved to Groesbeck, until her retirement.

OraLee and Paul moved to Limestone County in 1996 to be nearer their children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed family genealogy research.  She loved her children and grandchildren, and for the past two years she lived with her granddaughter, Shannon in Richards, TX.  She was blessed with a good home with Shannon and her hairless cat and stuffed hippo which were a dear comfort to her and especially loved the treat of “Dr. Pepper and Pie Fridays.”

Ora Lee was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Paul in 2014.

She is survived by three daughters:  Paula Broadway and husband Blake of Brazoria, Pamela and husband Brian Meadows of Plain City, Utah, and Tracy Anderson of Groesbeck.  Her grandchildren are:  Shelby Anderson, Shannon Anderson, R.C. Anderson and Shayla Anderson, all of Groesbeck; Bryce Broadway and Ben Broadway of Brazoria; Katelynn Coloma of Utah and Kristin Meadows of Utah; and three great grandchildren.
