Sad to hear of Johnny's passing.  I first met Johnny in the 4th grade in Mr. Ivy's class.  Johnny received more "licks" from Mr. Ivy than all of the other boys in that class combined.  It was almost a daily ritual that he would get licks.  I also remember that Johnny was a big Texas A&M fan, which I was also, and the Aggies were having a great year and there was a bet made between Johnny and Mr. Ivy on the UT/A&M game.  Johnny won but I do not remember what the wages were...that was 1956....!!!!!

I was also in Boy Scouts with Johnny in Troop 325 which later split and Troop 352 was added.  We were affiliated with the First Methodist Church in Lake Jackson.  This is where I was in the same Sunday School class with Johnny.  He did like to sing and if memory serves me right he was in the BHS Acapella Choir.  His Mother was in the Choir at our Church.  Sat with Johnny many Sundays in the upstairs listening to Basil Jones, Reverend Morton and Carlos Davis Sermons....(Doty Davis father).  In High School we attended some of the same social functions and dances at Angleton fair grounds.  Did not see Johnny a lot after High School.  He went to Lamar Tech (University) in Beaumont.  He and Gene Blanchard were room mates for 3 years. I saw Johnny at a couple of times at the HIgh School reunions and we had conversations and caught up on what we had done the last 40-50 years since graduation.  The last time I saw Johnny was at Stuart Lee's funeral in La Grange last summer.  We had a good conversation and he advised me that his health was not the greatest and that his Sister Judie was moving to Lake Jackosn to assist him.  Judie passed away recently.  I had forgotten how tall Johnny was....6'4".

REST IN PEACE JOHNNY

Like all of us WILL, Johnny has gone the way of all men. When we were in the 6th grade, Johnny told Mr. Huffman that he, Johnny, could run faster than Mr. Huffman.  After school, Mr. Huffman and Johnny engaged in a short spirnt.  The students thought this was really cool.  Mr. Huffman "smoked" Johnny.  Great times in a world very different from the world we now live in.  Rest in Peace, Johnny.  To those of our class who continue with life under the sun, I admonish "REMEMBER HEAVEN".

Dadgumit, hated to hear of Johnnys passing. Great friend at High School.

It seems that all of us are beginning to watch the things happen that my mother did when she would tell me of another classmate passing. It sucks!

GOD SPEED to Johnny and all our other classmates that have left before us way too soon.
